 Getting Started with Excel Services

Excel Services in Microsoft® SharePoint® Server 2010 makes it simple to use, share, secure and manage your Microsoft® Excel® 2010 workbooks (.xlsx, .xslb).  Using the #1 end-user Business Intelligence tool, users can take their rich reports and models and publish them to the web to create dynamic dashboards, sharing their insights with the rest of the organization while maintaining a single version of the workbook.  Excel Services enables users to:
  • Share whole or parts of the workbook allowing others to interact with the underlying data (sort, filter, pivot, enter parameters)
  • Explore and analyze information, such as when connected to external data sources or stand alone in the workbook.
  • Perform what-if analysis and explore scenarios by entering values in the workbook that are calculated in real-time.
  • Connect to other Web Parts in SharePoint Server, such as Filter Web Parts or List View Web Part as part of a dashboard or from another Web Part Page.
